Full school year positions iare based 181 days and  pay is divided over twelve months.  Employees hired after the school year begins will be paid based on the number of days to be worked and divided by the number of months left in the fiscal year. 

 

Qualifications:              

  1. Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits or 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education OR
  2. Earned associate's (or higher) degree OR
  3. Can Demonstrate  (by passing the Paraprofessional on-line test)

                   a) knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and math

                   b) knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing  and math readiness.

       

        4.   Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and the FBI background check.

        5.   One to three years of experience working in an educational setting

  1. Ability and desire to work as part of a team.
  2. Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and good academic skills.
  4. Ability to take and follow directions
  5. Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  6. Respond promptly and appropriately to crisis situations.  Must be responsible and reliable.
  7. Computer literate and experience working with computer based learning program.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  1. Provide support services to students, primarily one-on-one with special needs student. 
  2. Assist with the implementation of learning skills that are to be offered in the program working one-on-one or in groups settings.
  3. Monitor students on playground or in gymnasium.
  4. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and other para educators.
  5. Actively promote a school  environment that reflects individual differences, enhances pupils’ self-esteem and provides for a sensitive handling of confidential information.
  6. Establish rapport and communicate effectively and positively when interacting with individuals and community groups.
  7. Maintain privacy and protection of student and family information as mandated by the code of ethics, federal and state regulation, and school district policies
  8. Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks. 
  9. Other duties as assigned by Teacher or Building Administrator.
